Introduction
Elias Muthomi Gitonga is a born gifted and talented child. When Elias was One and half years old, Elias could read English words that he saw in the computer and TV screens. When he was one and half, years he started reading the lower third words that scroll on during the news.
Elias also could memorize different countries, their Presidents, different mobile companies, different brands etc.
The biggest strength for Elias was discovered when he expressed knowledge in aircraft. At 3 years he had already memorized over 16 different models of aircraft. He has also gone to understand the following on planes:
Airplanes and Jets models and where they are made
The forces that affect a plane: Lift, Drag, Weight and Thrust.
Understanding of different types of engines: Jet Engines, Piston Engines, Propeller Engines
Understanding of the internal combustion strokes of an engine: Intake, compression, combustion an exhaust etc
Hosting by other Aircraft and Academic Institutions
Other distinguished organizations in Kenya discovered the talents of Elias Muthomi and hosted him in their premises. They include
- Kenyatta University: Both Aeronautical Engineering and the department of gifting hosted the boy and were surprised to see his knowledge and understanding of Aircraft.
- TUK University: The university engineering department was excited with Elias understanding of four strokes of the jet engine. The university technical department hosts a full General Electric Engine in their Nairobi Campus and when they hosted Elias, Elias was able to recognize and explain the main compartment of the engine from where combustion starts to where exhaust stroke happens.
- Tropic Air Nanyuki: Tropic Air is the leading Air Charter company based in Nanyuki Kenya. The founder of the Charter company recognized Elias for his understanding Aircraft and hosted him for a mentorship programme in the year 2021 where Elias displayed his advanced knowledge on Aircraft design and structure
- Flitestar Academy: A pilot mentorship program ran by Flitestar Academy in Langata Kenya recognized efforts by Elias Muthomi and picked him as their ambassador.
Global Awards in Dubai- Winner, Intelligence category, Global Child Prodigy Awards 2022
A child talent recognition company in India recognized Elias efforts on matters aircrafts and selected him as an awardee in the category of intelligence in 2021 December and went on to award him in Dubai in 2022. Elias was presented the award by the UAE Ministry of Culture of His Highness Nayan Sheik Nayan.
Global Kids Achievers Awards- India, Overall, Winner, and Technology Winner, 2023
Elias won the overall award in the Global Kids Achievers Award from India by scooping the overall people’s choice award as well as technology award.
Yetu Awards Kenya
Elias Muthomi Gitonga, scooped the Intelligence category winner in the 2024 Yetu awards Kenya which is the inaugural awards of recognizing specially gifted and talented children in Kenya and the region.
Indian Mentorship
Elias is currently being mentored by the leading Aircraft Design company from Europe where he is learning different steps of designing aircrafts as well as a leading professor of Aircraft Design from India
Academics
Elias is currently undertaking his education through an American Curriculum specialized for gifted and talented children. He is currently undertaking Grade 7
Recognition by Kenya Defense Forces
When Elias turned 3 years, Kenya Airforce, an arm of Kenya Defence Forces, invited Elias Muthomi in their Eastleigh Airbase for a day courtesy call. He was given a rare tour of the facility in the airbase besides getting rare helicopter rides by the Kenya Defence forces Captains. This went to triple the passion he had for aircraft.
